- “You can't win, Obi-Wan! You can't escape him!”
- ―Reva[src]
Reva Sevander (also known as the Third Sister) is an Imperial Inquisitor who appears in the Star Wars series, Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Background[]
Reva was a Jedi youngling who was present in the Jedi Temple during Order 66. When the clones raided the temple, Reva and her fellow younglings found Anakin Skywalker and asked him for help, only for him to kill them all. Reva survived by playing dead, and she swore revenge on Anakin. After the Empire rose to power, she became a member of the Inquisitorius, tasked by Darth Vader to hunt down the remaining Jedi Knights who survived Order 66. However, this is actually only a cover for her to get close to Vader so she can kill him for murdering her friends.
In her hunt for Jedi-in-hiding, she is known to be ruthlessly ambitious.
Personality[]
As a youngling, Reva was once sweet and innocent who deeply loved her friends and had come to regard the Jedi Order as her family. However, when Reva witnessed the newly christened Darth Vader and the clone army slaughtering her fellow Jedi, Reva became consumed with anger and vengeance as she sought to kill Vader to avenge the people as her family.
As an adult, after becoming an Inquisitor, Reva was highly ambitious. She was set on tracking down Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, with her fellow Inquisitors assuming she hoped his capture would gain her Darth Vader's favor and therefore improve her station. However, this was a ploy as she sought only to get close to the Sith Lord to kill him for revenge on his actions against her fellow younglings.
Appearances[]
Obi-Wan Kenobi[]
In the first episode, Reva travels to Tatooine in search of a Jedi with the Grand Inquisitor and the Fifth Brother. Just as the Grand Inquisitor locates the Jedi in a saloon, Reva attempts to kill the Jedi immediately, only to be stopped by the Grand Inquisitor himself. he Inquisitor chastises the Sister for her recklessness, who in turn chastises him for looking after "scraps" instead of "bigger prey", but the Grand Inquisitor warns her to drop her fixation with Obi-Wan Kenobi and start obeying his commands or otherwise he will relieve her of her duties, so the Third Sister begrudgingly relents.
The Third Sister and the Fifth Brother later return to Mos Eisley and ask some Tatooinians about any Jedi, but the Sister opts to interrogate the citizens about Kenobi instead, promising to reward or punish them, cutting off a woman's hand after she warns that the Inquisitorius don't have any rights in the Outer Rim. Despite the Fifth Brother's anger, the Third Sister continues with her interrogation and asks Owen Lars if he knows about a Jedi. Owen refuses to sell Obi-Wan out and insists that he considers the Jedi "vermin", but the Sister threatens to kill him and his family if no one gives her information about Obi-Wan.
However, the Fifth Brother intervenes and takes the Third Sister to an alley, where he chastises her for not letting go of her obsession with Obi-Wan. Despite this, the Third Sister decides to take the matters in her own hands and hires a team of mercenaries to kidnap Princess Leia Organa as she knew that Kenobi had a close association with the Imperial senator, Bail Organa.
In the second episode, the Third Sister arrives on the planet Daiyu to meet up with the mercenaries she hired to kidnap Leia. However, upon meeting the mercenaries, the Third Sister discovers Obi-Wan had subdued them with a spice and rescued Leia. To make matters worse, the Grand Inquisitor arrives with the Fifth Brother and the Fourth Sister where he angrily chastises her for capturing an Imperial senator's daughter without telling him first, but the Third Sister insists that her plan must work out and that the Inquisitorius have done worse.
Fed up with the Third Sister's tendency to defy his orders, the Grand Inquisitor dismisses her from the case and proceeds to capture and deliver Kenobi to Vader without giving her any credit, warning that she will be appropriately punished after Kenobi's capture. Undeterred, the Third Sister places a bounty on Obi-Wan, causing every bounty hunter on the planet to start searching for the Jedi. After seeing Kenobi fending off some bounty hunters, the Third Sister starts chasing after him and Leia through Daiyu's roofs.
Eventually, the Third Sister tracks Obi-Wan and Leia to a shipyard and Obi-Wan hides from her to ensure Leia can get onboard a ship that will take them off the planet. The Inquisitor taunts Obi-Wan by asking him to surrender so he will not die "today". She then informs him about Anakin Skywalker's survival to further conflict him, but before she can find where Obi-Wan is hiding, the Grand Inquisitor appears and demands her to move aside so he can capture Kenobi himself.
However, the Third Sister refuses to obey and stabs the Inquisitor instead so he can't take all the credit. However, the confrontation with her superior is enough to give Obi-Wan the chance to jump into the ship and depart Daiyu with Leia, much to the Third Sister's anger. She then yells at Obi-Wan that he can't escape her and Darth Vader for long.
Shortly after, Reva contacts Darth Vader at his fortress on Mustafar, assuring the Sith Lord that the probe droids track down each possible destination of Obi-Wan while pinning the murder of the Grand Inquisitor on him. Darth Vader does not care completely about the fate of the Grand Inquisitor as he only cares about finding Obi-Wan.
The Sith Lord promises her that if she succeeds she will be the next Grand Inquisitor but that if she disappoints him, she won't live long enough to regret it. Meeting with the other Inquisitors on Nur, Third Sister literally acts as if she has full authority, much to the anger of Fifth Brother who was next in line. Third Sister openly states that Vader chose him to lead the mission, so Fourth Sister and Fifth Brother have no choice but to obey his orders, but Fifth Brother hostilely asserts that he will eventually get what he deserves.
When Kenobi's presence is discovered on Mapuzo, the Inquisitors and Darth Vader go there. The cruel Sith Lord proceeds to terrorize and slaughter several villagers to bring his nemesis out of hiding, while the Inquisitors silently watch. Once Vader is out of sight, Third Sister searches on her side of the village and finds an entrance to a tunnel hidden in an assembly workshop. Upon discovering that it is part of the Hidden Path underground network, people helping the Jedi hide, Reva ambushes Leia on the other side of the tunnel after killing the pilot who was supposed to take her before kidnapping the girl again.
Taking Leia to the Inquisitors' base on Nur, Third Sister proceeds to interrogate her about the Hidden Path, trying to fool the child into claiming that they let Obi-Wan die on Mapuzo but Leia states that she knows nothing about them, pushing Third Sister to question her more aggressively. Her attempt by using the Force to force her to speak fails due to Leia's surprising resistance. After long attempts at mental manipulation, Third Sister eventually runs out of patience to the point that she orders the young princess to be tortured. She then encounters Mapuzo officer Tala Durith who reveals information about the Hidden Path to her, only for Third Sister to see through the double agent's attempts to deceive her until the base alarm went active.
Third Sister soon confronts Obi-Wan, Leia and Tala at the boarding dock before they manage to escape but the sudden arrival of two Hidden Path ships allow the three fugitives to escape despite Third Sister destroying one of the ships. After Obi-Wan, Leia, and Tala's escape, Third Sister is confronted by Vader who starts strangling her as punishment for her failure. However, Third Sister is able to calm her master by revealing that she had hidden a tracer in Leia's toy droid. With the Sith Lord warning her that he would tolerate no more failure on his part, Third Sister promises that the tracer will lead them to Kenobi.
