Mother Gothel's Cottage is a cottage that once belonged to Mother Gothel and her biological daughter Cassandra until Gothel abandoned Cassandra to kidnap Rapunzel after learning about her magical hair. The house is featured in Tangled: The Series.
Background[]
The cottage first appears in the prologue of "Rapunzel's Return". Mother Gothel lived in the cottage with her daughter Cassandra until she was four. However, Gothel, not actually caring for her daughter often left Cassandra to fend for herself and would focus more on herself. One night, after failing to get the Sundrop Flower, Gothel decided to abandon Cassandra and go and kidnap Princess Rapunzel, the newborn baby daughter to Queen Arianna and King Frederic, so that Gothel could keep Rapunzel as her own and use her to stay young and beautiful forever.
The Captain of the Guards found Cassandra alone in the house after chasing Gothel and decided to look after the young girl and raise her as his own after her own mother abandoned her. The spirit of the villainous demon Zhan Tiri managed to lead Cassandra into a flashback where they witnessed the events as mentioned above. Cassandra, consumed with heartbreak and envy for Rapunzel being favored by Gothel, becomes malevolent and resolves to betray her by stealing the Moonstone Opal that she and her friends were searching for.
Almost two decades later, two young boys decided to visit the cottage in "A Tale of Two Sisters", believing the cottage was haunted. The boys ran out after finding the ghost of Mother Gothel. Rapunzel went to investigate only to find the "ghost" was a fake to keep people out. Rapunzel encountered Cassandra there as well and even though Cassandra's turned evil, they had to work together to escape, where they found Gothel's secret underground tunnels where she kept her magic mirrors which recorded and replayed her talking to herself about the compliments she got and also recorded her making young Cassandra to do household chores all by herself, and they also found Gothel's self made copy of The Graphtic Scroll.
