As I Was Sayin' to the Duchess was a short deleted song from the 1940 Disney animated film, Pinocchio. It was originally about Honest John making a tactless act at a formal event and being promptly kicked out while trying to trick Pinocchio, but for the final version of the film, it was replaced by "Hi-Diddle-Dee-Dee".
Lyrics[]
As I was sayin' to the duchess
The other day at tea
"The caviar's not up to par,
it doesn't look right to me."
As I was sayin' to the duchess
Today at her soirée
"Your crepes suzettes,
the worst I've ate,
it tastes like a bale of hay."
The duchess said her majesty
had asked her for recipe
She gave it to her majesty
"God save the king."
The duchess called to her butler
"I think his name was Jeeves"
He cleared his throat
Your hat, your coat
The duchess requests, "You leave”
