Alice & the Queen of Hearts: Back to Wonderland (French: Alice et la Reine de Cœur: Retour au Pays des Merveilles) is a stunt show at Walt Disney Studios Park (soon to be renamed "Disney Adventure World") at Disneyland Paris themed after the 1951Disney animated film Alice in Wonderland.
On May 15, 2023, Disneyland Paris filed a building permit for what might include a future BMX stunt show to their resort consisting of a "construction for metal sets, a training tent, and technical rooms within the stage area of the existing building". It was also stated on Twitter that Disneyland Paris posted that they were looking for stunt performers with auditions held until October 2, 2023, followed by reports of an Alice in Wonderland-themed show thanks to building permits.[1]
On August 28, 2023, it was announced that the previously-rumored Alice in Wonderland-themed show was confirmed with a set date opening in spring 2024 and that the show would incorporate types of performers, giving the classic story a twist to the world of stunts, as well as giving guests a "unique opportunity to influence the outcome" of the show.[2]
On January 9, 2024, it was announced that the name of the Alice in Wonderland-themed show would be named "Alice & the Queen of Hearts: Back to Wonderland" and that it would be a "modern and flamboyant" twist of the classic story as well as being an "energy-packed" musical show.[3]
On March 12, 2024, Disneyland Paris revealed the costumes showcasing images of Alice, the Queen of Hearts, and the Mad Hatter who were confirmed to be in the show wearing stylized versions of the costumes from the 1951 film. Amongst the other details revealed for the show included mind-blowing acrobats as well as BMX riders. It was also confirmed that the show would have two different endings where guests would be encouraged to help the Mad Hatter decide that who would win.[4]
On April 12, 2024 (Disneyland Paris' 32nd anniversary), it was announced that the Alice in Wonderland-themed show would premiere on May 25, 2024. It was earlier announced that the show would debut on May 18 of that year.[5][6]
On April 15, 2024, it was revealed that one of the songs used for the show, "Welcome to Wonderland", was confirmed to be in the show as a sneak peek for the upcoming attraction, which was from a media event celebrating the 32nd anniversary of Disneyland Paris for people who were invited to join the celebration on April 12.[7]
