Hi, my name is Igor, I’m a Croatian Londoner, and I’ve been a Linux user since Red Hat 6.2 (Zoot), there was no Fedora at that time. I had been involved in many non-coding projects at that time. I was an active member of my local LUG, I helped in translating GNOME and OpenOffice.org to Croatian, I helped with promoting FOSS culture in my local community, provided support to the newcomers via Usenet, etc. My first Linux project, I built a wi-fi Linux router in the mid-2000s which helped my local community to get an affordable broadband Internet connection. In 2009 I got my first Linux job as Linux and middleware sysadmin, and still have a vivid memory of the pre-devops era when deployments were handled manually. I moved to the UK in 2018 and had a career gap because I was busy establishing my new life. Now I re-joined where I actually started in the early 2000s, and am pursuing a career as a DevOps engineer with emphasis on Linux stack.
