Account Summary Report is an at-a-glance report showing the performance of an entire Google Ads account. Additionally, it sends an HTML-formatted daily email with current account statistics. An account manager could use a similar technique to email professionally-formatted reports directly to clients.
Scheduling
The script relies on previous day's statistics. Schedule it Daily, 3am or later to guarantee accuracy, since Google Ads statistics may be up to 3 hours delayed.
How it works
The script fetches yesterday's statistics and updates the spreadsheet. The graphs are preconfigured to display the stats. If the email address is specified, the script sends out an HTML-formatted email.
Setup
Click the button below to create the spreadsheet-based script in your Google Ads account.
Click the button below to make a copy of the template spreadsheet.
Update
spreadsheet_url
in your script.Schedule the script to run Daily, 3am.
Extending the report (optional)
The report can be extended by adding further metrics from those available in
the customer
resource:
Add a heading (for example, Search Impression Share) to your spreadsheet in the next available column, which in the basic template would be next to Clicks.
Edit the
REPORT_FIELDS
definition near the top of the script. For example:var REPORT_FIELDS = [ {columnName: 'metrics.cost_micros', displayName: 'Cost'}, {columnName: 'metrics.average_cpc', displayName: 'Average CPC'}, {columnName: 'metrics.ctr', displayName: 'CTR'}, {columnName: 'metrics.impression', displayName: 'Impressions'}, {columnName: 'metrics.clicks', displayName: 'Clicks'}, {columnName: 'metrics.search_impression-share', displayName: 'Search Imp. Share'} ];
This adds Search Impression Share to the report. Choose any value for displayName—this will be used in the email heading.
To create a chart for the new field:
- Click on one of the existing charts in your spreadsheet, and under the three dots menu in the top right of the chart select Copy Chart; then right-click and Paste.
- A new chart will be created on the Sheet. On the menu for the new chart, select Edit Chart.
- Change the Series column reference to the column containing the new
data; for example, change
G
toH
. - Double-click on the chart title and change it to the new metric name.
