Earlier this year, we announced a partnership with Gadget, to help simplify the app development process for BigCommerce developers. Gadget is a full-stack development platform that minimizes the time developers spend setting up core infrastructure, so it’s easy to build robust, multi-tenant apps faster than ever.

In this blog, I reflect on my journey through a coding bootcamp and the insights gained to improve documentation at BigCommerce. One challenge in technical communication is overcoming "expert blind spot," where people familiar with a product unconsciously skip essential details, assuming they're obvious. The bootcamp allowed me to approach subject matters as a beginner, gaining hands-on experience in tools like API integration, client-server architectures, and React, all relevant to BigCommerce’s technology stack, including Stencil, Catalyst, and headless architecture. Through this process, I learned to approach each tool as a "blank slate," considering what beginners need to know. This perspective helps ensure that BigCommerce’s developer content is accessible, emphasizing practical details for those new to the platform.

In this article, we'll break down and compare BigCommerce’s definitions of these architectures and discuss which situations they are best suited for.
