April 1, 1949 - November 6, 2024
Carol Marcia Moore of Corvallis, Ore., died on November 6, 2024. She is survived by her loving partner, Marjorie Ratliff. Other survivors include her sister-in-law, Joan Ratliff Burton; her niece, Heather Ratliff Conroy; her nephew, Travis Moore; her cousins, Richard and Val Moore; and countless friends.
Carol was born on April 1, 1949, daughter of Dr. David and Donna Moore, and was raised in Portland with her brother, Keith. In 1967, she graduated from Beaverton High School, where she was a member of the tennis team. She played in the state championship tournament in her senior year.
In 1971, she earned a bachelor's degree in art at Oregon State University. Art was a constant theme in Carol's life. She became skilled in many different art forms and was undaunted by any artistic challenge. Along with Judy Fjell, she opened an art framing business called Frames Etc. on Grant and 26th in Corvallis.
Art was not her only passion. In 1974 she earned a second degree in elementary education. Carol cared deeply about our younger generation and their future. She had a long career as a drug and alcohol counselor at Lake Oswego High School, where she impacted the lives of many troubled adolescents.
After her tenure at Lake Oswego, Carol and Marj returned to Corvallis where Carol launched herself into the business world as a real estate agent for Windermere Realty until her retirement.
Carol had a lifelong involvement in political and environmental causes. Along with Councilwoman Nancy Wyse, Carol led the First Annual Walk for Peace on January 1, 2016.
Carol was an exquisite chef, a master gardener, a dog lover. She loved reading and learning anything new.
Carol will be remembered for her quick wit and her keen intelligence, for her energy and vitality. Most importantly her kindness and concern for all human beings has left an indelible mark. By her own deliberate intention, Carol has left the world a better place.
The family is especially grateful to the caring staff at Willamette Springs and for the love provided by Evergreen Hospice.
A Celebration of Carol's life will be held on her birthday, April 1, 2025.
