Chris Box

I've been building and running mobile internet service since 1999 with Orange UK. This was the first such service in the country, and we went on to do the first launches of 4G and 5G too, as EE (owned by BT). But this has always been with a focus on optimising performance. Networks are never 100% perfect but I guess we haven't gone too far wrong as EE has been awarded Best Network by RootMetrics every year since 2013.

At the IETF I'm interested in any developing technology that might have an impact on end-user experience of the internet. This includes performance and functionality as seen by the user, their privacy and how secure they are from external attack. It also includes operational impacts for networks, as of course these can also have an effect on end-user experience.

Under that banner there are many WGs and RGs I try to find time to participate in: ADD, DNSSD, DNSOP, DPRIVE, QUIC, MASQUE, TLS, HTTPBIS, TSVWG, OPSAWG, PEARG, HPRC, PANRG and of course BOFs.
