Next year is expected to be better than 2024 for the hotel industry, the chairman of the hoteliers’ association (Pasyxe) said on Monday.
The statistical results received from the London exhibition were quite positive and show that the UK market is the most important one for Cyprus.
“If there is indeed a positive development in the first part of 2025 similar to the first months of 2024, then I believe that 2025 may surpass 2024,” Thanos Michaelides, chairman of the hoteliers’ association said.
Fifty hotels remain open during the winter and on the days of Christmas and New Year, where they will be offering festive programmes.
“It is the winter period during which Cypriots prefer to go to hotels to have fun and welcome the new year,” Michaelides said.
When asked about what effects wars have on winter tourism in Cyprus, he said that, “when there is instability in the neighbouring regions of the island, the flight schedule can be reduced and at times doubts can be created among tourists. The big loss that we measure from Russia and Ukraine is for the summer months.”
