NABCEP Retains Coveted ANSI Accreditation
|
|
NABCEP has once again renewed its ANSI Accreditation for Personnel Certification Bodies under ANSI/ISO/IEC 17024. The ANSI accreditation mark is a symbol of excellence, recognized worldwide by employers, industry leaders, hiring managers, and credential holders. NABCEP first earned its ANSI Accreditation in 2007 for its Solar PV Installer Certification, which was renamed the PV Installation Professional several years ago.
The Value of ANSI/ISO/IEC 17024 Accreditation
- The ANSI mark signals to an employer that the credential holder has undergone a valid, fair, and reliable assessment to verify that s/he has the necessary competencies to practice.
- ANSI accreditation provides an added layer of legal defensibility against invalid claims.
- Many government agencies such as the U.S. Department of Defense, Department of Energy, Federal and State OSHA, and the FDA, rely on ANSI accreditation as it assures the competency of the certification program.
- The accountability and transparency built into the ANSI process support conformity assessment attestations, and can result in reduced liability insurance.

NABCEP's President & CEO Helps in Puerto Rico
|
|
NABCEP's President & CEO, Shawn O'Brien, began traveling to Puerto Rico earlier this year to help in their efforts to build a more sustainable grid and educated solar workforce. Shawn joined the Clinton Foundation's
Puerto Rico Solar Workforce Development Working Group in San Juan, which is discussing next steps for advancing work in priority areas like certifications/pathways, apprenticeship programs, and education/public awareness. NABCEP appreciates the Clinton Foundation's commitment to advancing the clean energy transition in Puerto Rico, the dedication to making sure local folks have access to jobs in this rapidly expanding sector, and the collaborative spirit that has brought such positivity and optimism to the Solar Workforce Development Working Group.
