Shakira Performs in Barranquilla after 18 years
With the confirmation of her tour in Colombia, Shakira will return to Barranquilla, and Barranquilleros are ecstatic for the highly anticipated concert. This event has been long-awaited by her hometown fans.
The Colombian artist’s last official concert in Barranquilla was in 2006 at the Metropolitano Stadium, where she paid tribute to coastal culture. On that occasion, not only did Shakira shine, but other iconic artists like Joe Arroyo, Jorge Celedon and Checo Acosta also took the stage.
Although Shakira made a brief appearance in Barranquilla in 2018 during the opening of the Central American and Caribbean Games, the event caused mixed feelings among residents. That night, the star performed only three of her hits: “Me Enamoré,” “Hips Don’t Lie,” and “La Bicicleta,” which sparked the desire for a full concert.
Shakira will arrive in Barranquilla as part of the 2025 pre-Carnival events. Many locals have expressed on social media that they are willing to miss some of the Carnival activities to attend her concert. Expectations are high, and the excitement for her return is palpable in the city.
