Geotagging posts

I set myself a little challenge to geotag some posts and plot them on an interactive map. With my obsession for maps and geospatial data, I’m surprised I’ve only just tackled this. Anyway, I did it.

Sylvain Julé’s superb Kirby Locator plugin was the key to a dynamic process, allowing easy geotagging for any post. I then used OpenLayers to configure an Open Street Map with JavaScript from Harry’s examples. Next, I wrote some PHP to identify geotagged posts and loop data in the appropriate format. I chose semi-transparent markers to make clusters more evident.

My first attempt is a WIP with much to fix, but stuff like this makes me very happy, helping me to relive past experiences and travel at home.
