Big thanks to my mural collaborators Adam Turman and Anne Ulku who helped me cover the Creative Lighting building in fine art. And also big thanks to photog John Wallace who came out to take pictures of us at the mural site! We’ll be having a little opening at the mural site on Thursday, December 2nd, from 6-8 pm. Hope you can make it!
Hooray! We finished FOUR new murals in October! You can see these four big walls at the Creative Lighting building in St. Paul, MN. Murals by Chank Diesel, Adam Turman & Anne Ulku. Hooray for big art!
I’m working on FOUR new big murals for the Creative Lighting building in St. Paul, MN near 94 & Snelling. All four are still in progress, but here are some preview pics of the first mural. This one, measuring 15′ tall by 65′ wide, is a collaborative piece with Twin Cities’ poster artist and bicycle evangelist Adam Turman, one of my local art heros. He made the design and painted the lady. I made the Drunk Cowboy font and am still working on painting drop-shadows on that. We had lots of friends come out to help, too. Painting is fun. Thanks y’all!
Painting continues on this mural and the other three next week. Extra special thanks to John Wallace who came out to take these “real photographer” pictures of the painting event. For press and media inquiries into this project, please contact JudyJudyJudy.
Okay, I think this may be my worst public art idea ever, but I had to share it with someone to get it out of my head. You might have to click on the pic to get a better, bigger view. As it turns out it’s not the child’s pose at all, it’s really the “Uttana Shishosana (Extended Puppy Pose).” This public art project is not slated for groundbreaking at this time.

This painting is being sold in a fundraiser for the St. Anthony West Neighborhood Organization. It’s a big painting on thin plywood, measuring about 8 feet by 2 feet, so I’d really like to sell it to somebody in NE so I don’t have to ship it elsewhere. It’s my patriotic inaugural art which was on display as a public art piece on the Art Jones lawn at 2nd St & 3rd Ave NE. Now it’s been taken down and it’s for sale at a great opening bid of only $49.
Here’s a great chance to get a significant piece of Chank Art at a great price if you can come over here and pick it up in person. 100% of the sale price of this font will be donated to STAWNO to help them raise money to move the Pioneers statue over to the new BF Nelson park site. This painting was featured on numerous blogs in the past few months. Like these:

Here’s Ding standing atop some urban rubble next to the Pioneers sculpture near the BF Nelson park site. The Pioneers sculpture weighs 25 tons and will be moved across the street once the area is tidied up a bit. The rubble will be hauled off later, too.
Nice birdhouse! A Chank art sculpture named “Ding” continued his tour of Minneapolis’ Third Ward today. He wishes GOOD LUCK to City Councilmember Diane Hofstede who’s running for re-election to her seat at City Hall. Hofstede is a big advocate of the arts, libraries, bicycle and nature and she is a good smart person who helps make Minneapolis great. She’s having a fundraiser at the Frank Stone Gallery tonight from 5-8. Come on down and wish Diane good luck in her campaign!
Ding goes for a little stroll around the neighborhood and finds Coke and mangoes at 2nd St & 4th Ave NE in Minneapolis on a brisk, sunny winter day.
Inaugural Chank art attracts an onlooker at the Art Jones Lawn Gallery on 2nd St NE, Minneapolis.
