Digitalis

Founded in 2009, Digitalis is a London-based, privately-owned advisory firm. Our work is informed by digital intelligence and underpinned by proprietary technology. Using a unique blend of skills and an advanced technology platform, we work with our clients to identify risk and harness opportunities presented by the unregulated online information environment. We provide services to clients globally, with over 30 languages in-house, and offices in London and Dubai.

Digitalis’s Digital Risk Practice provides targeted and actionable evidence in support of litigation. The Digital Risk team is composed of open-source intelligence (OSINT) experts, with backgrounds in military intelligence, corporate intelligence, journalism and software development. The team comprises experienced digital investigators and language, technical and political specialists, with particular expertise in supporting cases in the UK and the US, as well as multi-jurisdictional disputes across Europe, the Americas, Russia and Central Asia.

Our collective understanding of the digital and open-source landscape has been formed by years of experience carrying out investigations on behalf of financial services institutions, global corporates, law firms and private clients.

Litigation Support Services

We conduct a wide range of bespoke litigation support investigations on behalf of law firms representing individuals and organisations across the financial services, government, corporate, professional services and natural resources sectors globally, as well as high net worth individuals and public figures. Our approach combines OSINT techniques with expert analysis and recommendations to fill gaps in litigation, with all findings recorded in detailed reports and on our digital platform to ensure the chain of custody is preserved.

We have expertise across the multilingual open-source landscape, with projects ranging from online asset traces to establishing the identity of anonymous digital hostile actors, and identifying information compromising the reputation, privacy and security of our clients.

This extends to investigations into large scale disinformation and defamation campaigns targeting high-profile individuals and wider communities. We have significant experience in supporting reputation and media-related proceedings, as well as investigations into issues arising from online and social media platforms. The Defamation Act 2013 enhanced the threshold of serious harm in proceedings, and the same test is increasingly relevant in privacy cases. Utilising our bespoke retrieval tools and automated web-crawling software, supported by our dedicated team of in-house developers and social media analysis expertise, we provide a world-leading capability in establishing the audience and exposure of damaging content. Our approach also enables us to map hostile and defamatory narratives, detect the origin of the information and monitor its spread in real-time.

In addition, our proprietary tools enable us to rapidly establish links between individuals, verify personal identifiers and uncover information believed to have disappeared from the web or never been digitised. Once we have identified the information, it is examined by our team of expert analysts. This capability allows us to support legal teams in diverse practice areas, including family, employment, commercial and sovereign disputes, as well as criminal and immigration proceedings.

Digitalis’s proprietary technology also has the capability to assist clients with their Google profiles if they face sudden adverse or hostile reputational attack, especially during litigation. Our Online Narrative & Reputation Management team are on hand to protect a client’s Google profile and inject resilience into the first page of search engine results in a crisis communications scenario.

Digital Profile Services

The Digital Risk team at Digitalis provides reputation auditing services to identify all risks presented by our clients’ digital profiles which could be exploited by hostile third parties, or groups seeking to compromise their reputation and security. Using Digitalis’s proprietary trawl technology to identify every indexed URL in which a certain piece of information appears online, we support legal teams in protecting their clients’ privacy, security and reputation.

At Digitalis, we also provide ad-hoc due diligence and crisis monitoring services to our clients. In addition, we provide online reputation management and online narrative management, alongside digital profile and narrative establishment, strengthening and enhancement, to protect and further our clients’ digital profile and interests.
