Genow is a bumblebee found in Defiant Root's market. He is the persona of Co-creator, writer, director, and one of the developers of Bug Fables: The Everlasting Sapling, Jose Fernando Gracia.
He is involved in the long line of trades in Vi's Request, trading his Root Cloth for the Ant Doll, obtained by trading with Ann. The Root Cloth can then be traded to a bee in the Golden Settlement.
Real World Biography[]
Jose Fernando Gracia (born c. 1994), also known online as Genow, is a Panamanian video game developer, writer, and teacher. Growing up, Genow was born with an out-toeing and had trouble doing much physical activities at a young age, so his mother, at age 3, bought him a Nintendo 64 and a copy of Yoshi's Story.[1] Most of Genow's relatives had game consoles, which further pushed his passion into video games.[1]
In 2010, Genow would meet Marcio "Mar" Cleiton on a Pokémon Nuzlocke forum.[2] Genow at this point had gone into some form of coding, making a Pokémon Fire Red/Leaf Green ROM hack titled Pokémon Manly Pink, a ROM hack set in the Kanto region with elements from the fifth generation of Pokémon.[3] The two became friends, and made comics regarding the topic.[2] Eventually, both him and Mar would experiment with some original idea concepts, with most not going through.[4] Genow would move to New Zealand in university in order to understand coding.[4]
At his time in university, Genow would make two fully published games, Swing On Me and Robin. The latter game is where he would meet Poppy, whom he would later hire as a medal designer.[2] Genow described his schedule in the following order: study, head home, take a comute, message Mar, and work on his games.[4] During this time, he, Mar, and another friend named Oma made a comic that revolved around a prototype Team Snakemouth, with the plot eventually becoming Chapter 1 of the final game. Development was described as being very stressful as a result of having to juggle between his personal life, his university life, and developing the game.[5]
Genow currently serves as a teacher in programing.[6]
Appearance[]
Like most bumblebees, he has a lot of fur, which can be unbearable in the heat of Defiant Root. However, he wears a greyish-blue scarf too, likely as an aesthetic, as the heat doesn't appear to bother him.
Personality[]
A notable trait is his affinity for souvenirs from other kingdoms, namely the Ant Kingdom. When he receives the Ant Doll from Team Snakemouth, he is excited to place it in his room and show it to his friend.

- Genow owns a large plushie of Tanjerin commissioned by Jack Ecrid, the creator of Riz.[6]
- Genow's favorite bug are Bees.[6]
