FAQ's
If you want to make these extra gooey, under-bake them for a couple of minutes or top them with a small amount of heavy cream before you bake them.
Yes, you will need to store this cobbler in the fridge if you don't eat it all right away.
Yes, I recommend that you allow them to cool for 10-15 minutes before you add the icing so it doesn't melt off the top of them.
Test kitchen tips
- For this recipe, you are using the smaller tube of Pillsbury cinnamon rolls, not the Grands canned cinnamon rolls.
- You can use your favorite brand of cinnamon rolls instead of Pillsbury to save a little cash at the grocery store.
- Make sure that you use your casserole dish well, it works best if you use room-temperature butter to grease the dish. You could also use nonstick cooking spray instead of butter if you prefer.
- Separate the cinnamon roll pieces as you add them into the mixing bowl so they can be evenly coated in the apple pie filling and not stick together.
- Serve this casserole as it is on its own or you can top it with a scoop of ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
Variations
- I used canned applied pie filling to save time on this apple cinnamon roll bake. However, you can use a batch of your favorite homemade pie filling instead if you prefer.
- Change up the flavor of this cobbler by using a different type of fruit pie fillings. Peach or cherry pie filling would also taste great.
- If you like your cobbler a bit sweeter, try adding some brown sugar to the apple mixture before spooning it into the baking dish.
- Top your casserole with some chopped nuts like pecans or walnuts for some additional crunch.
Storage
Refrigerate - Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
Freezer -this apple cobbler with cinnamon rolls can be frozen, just cover it tightly and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge before reheating.
Reheat - warm in a 350 degree oven until heated through, about 10 minutes.

Yes that's correct Demiere. The apples from the can are sliced. I recommend dicing them further for this recipe.
