Hofud is a weapon in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.
Availability[]
Hofud is a mid-level sword that is mainly limited by the requirement for 2 Gold in its recipe, a difficult material to come by regardless of the material used. This aside, its component materials are fairly rare drops but not hard to come by, being 1 Sword Fragment from Bloodbringers and 2 Demon Fangs from Archdemons or Rockys (or Giant Bats, though there are much better swords available by that point).
Making it requires the player first acquire the recipe book Fine Equipment/R from Hall of Termination.
Once a Hofud has been constructed, they can be purchased from Dominique's store for 19,200G.
Usage[]
While Hofud is equipped, Miriam's attack becomes the traditional "sword swing" with a +32 ATK boost and the Slash and Curse attributes.
It is initially capable of the Power Slash technique (20 MP, Down -> Down-Back -> Back -> Forward + Attack), which will be passed on to all "traditional" Swords/Maces once mastered.
Hofud is a material used to craft the following items:
- Dáinsleif (x1 Hofud, x1 Dragon Talons, x1 Dark Matter)
- Florenberg (x1 Hofud, x1 Fiend Fang, x1 Bixbite, x1 Flame Ring)
- Almace (x1 Hofud, x1 Fiend Fang, x1 Diamond, x1 Ice Ring)
- Caladbolg (x1 Hofud, x1 Fiend Fang, x3 Emerald, x1 Thunder Ring)
Hofud is stronger than the other two-Gold sword, Fragarach, and more importantly can be upgraded into a number of powerful elemental swords which are themselves used in the recipes for the endgame swords Ridill and Blue Rose.
Since the two Gold in Hofud's recipe would cost 30,000G from the store, it is a very good idea to buy Hofuds instead and break them down using Alkahest: even if the 10 Alkahest required per sword are bought from the store (8,000G), this still works out as a better deal than buying Gold. (Alkahests can be farmed quite easily by Amy enemies in the Hidden Desert, where Gold materials can occasionally spawn in the blue chests anyway.)
Trivia[]
- Hofud (Hǫfuð, lit. "Man-head") was the sword of the Norse god Heimdallr (or Heimdall). It was said to bear the face of a man.
