Availability[]

  • Galleon Minerva: On the game's title menu, select "Game Start" to start a new game, and on the "Name" entry prompt, input "Akuma" (case sensitive). A chime will sound if the cheat code was successfully entered, and when the game begins, the Dominus sword will already appear in the "Weapon" list section of the Main Menu's "Equipment" screen.

Concept and creation[]

Kain's initial idea for the clan item was an accessory called the "1999 Sunglasses", which would shift every moon onscreen into a solar eclipse, but it was scrapped when he was told that clan items were for cosmetics purposes only. Scalzo, Kain's lieutenant in the clan, proposed that the item be a sword. As an homage to the Alucard Sword in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, the sword would be given a blue or red-colored slash. The initial name that Kain had given the weapon was the “Akuma Blade”, but his discomfort over the name led him to change it to the “Akumajo Blade”. Sadly, the name had to be scrapped because Koji Igarashi wanted to avoid copyright issues with Konami. The clan weapon's name was eventually changed to Dominus, one that Kain simply felt was right to him.

Trivia[]

  • Dominus is Latin for "Lord", "Master" or "Ruler".
  • It is also the name of a trio of glyphs that Shanoa used at her disposal in Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia. According to the Facebook page behind the weapon's creation, it is intended as an Easter egg to appease hardcore fans.
