As an alternative to traditional metal braces, invisible aligners are known for their affordability and convenience. If you have looked into straightening your teeth from home, then you’ve probably heard of Smilelove and byte. These two up and coming invisible aligner companies have only been around for a few years, but in that time have made quite the name for themselves.

I was interested in Smilelove because of the quick results that they advertise. I contacted them and spent time with a customer service representative answering my questions. My experience with them was positive but I was not interested in their product as I am not someone who can wear aligners to bed at night.

I was due a refund before they went out of business for a "few months" during the pandemic to rebrand I guess and have heard nothing. I have a thread of emails promising a refund for services NEVER USED. I never got aligners and never got a preview at all, but kept having to pay affirm for a service I NEVER RECEIVED OR WANTED. This issue has not been resolved and fear it never will as I'm now out 1500 bucks I could have spent at the dentist for REAL aligners.

Overall I would recommend doing treatment with someone in person. Having to message and wait a week or two for response delays treatment and trying to send pictures isn’t always super clear as to what needs to take place to get the results you are wanting. I’m on my last set of aligners and still I will need to continue treatment to straighten my teeth after 20 months.

I started Byte 4 yrs. ago. Beware they take on patients that they should not have. After 4 yrs. I wanted to end treatment because I have two teeth making no progress, they refused. I have been jumping through hoops with them and have hundreds of emails for proof. Now I'm in a spot where I'll need to pay for traditional braces. It's a waste of time and money in my opinion. They also send you free product if you write a "good review" on these sites and send them photos of it. I feel like I've been lied to & deceived. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

The Final Word

Smilelove and byte focus on creating a smooth and hassle-free straightening process. You don’t have to worry about making an appointment and paying expensive dental fees. Everything is done online and your aligners can be shipped straight to your door.

Both companies work hard to help customers get their perfect smile — although byte boasts a much faster treatment time. Thanks to the byte’s HyperByte technology, customers often experience a reduction in discomfort, better aligner traction, more accurate teeth movement, and an average treatment time of three months.

Smilelove’s average treatment time is six months.

Getting a treatment plan with byte is a reasonably straightforward process. You’ll order an impression kit ($95) and mail your impressions back to byte. Your case will then be reviewed by an orthodontist who will determine whether or not byte is right for you. If you are a good candidate, you can pay the $1,895 upfront or do a monthly payment plan. A few weeks later you’ll receive your aligners.

Now, Smilelove’s treatment process is relatively similar to byte’s. Except Smilelove gives you two options. If you choose their Fast-Track Bundle, you’ll pay $1,895 upfront; this includes the price of the impression kit, aligners, retainers, and whitening products. If you decide to go with the Kit-First plan, you’ll pay for the impression kit ($79) and send it back to Smilelove. If you choose to move forward with the straightening process, you’ll then have to pay $1,895 for your aligners to be produced and sent to your home.

In addition to their HyperByte technology, byte guarantees your smile for life. Meaning that if your teeth move or shift after going through a byte treatment, the company will cover the cost to straighten them. While Smilelove doesn’t offer a guarantee of that caliber, the company does state they will work with customers who are unhappy with their results.

Both companies appear to reputable and reliable. However, we recommend reading our verified customer reviews to find out which company is going to best suit your unique needs.
