Manga E366 Eye of the Maelstrom

Femto's Od is massively engulfing and has been described as a maelstrom of "terrible power".

Od (オド; pronounced /oʊd/ ohd), also known as spiritual magnetism[1] (霊的磁力), is the life force which pervades all things in the universe.[citation needed] Manipulation of Od is a pillar of magic, underpinning many powerful techniques employed by mages.

Astral bodies of similar Odic affinity tend to congregate, giving rise to regions shaped by and attuned to such Odic affinities.[2] For instance, the Qliphoth is a region of darkness in the Astral World serving as a home to spiritual creatures of dark affinity that have come together in the region.

Particular Ods[]

  • Following his incarnation in the form of Griffith, the God Hand member Femto's Od is registered by Schierke as being especially profound and one which engulfs all around him.[1] She comes to witness as much first-hand when, in Elfhelm, she encounters Griffith and, in her luminous body, experiences the overwhelming gravity of his Od as a maelstrom of "terrible power".[3]
  • The Berserker Armor is imbued with an ominous Od purposed for rousing its wearer's negative emotions, namely rage and violence.[4]
  • The Moonlight Boy is noted to have an Od different from most humans.[5][6] Notably, the Moonlight Boy shares a vessel with the God Hand member Femto.[7]
  • Following the restoration of Casca's mind, her Od is perceived as starkly different by Schierke, so as to distinguish the mentally regressed Casca and the original Casca as effectively two different people.[8]

Trivia[]

  • The Odic force is a hypothetical life force (or vital energy) named by 19th century German scientist Carl Reichenbach after the Germanic god Odin.
