"The Horned Owl" 「妖郭夜行 Yōkaku yakō」 is the fourth episode of Basilisk.
Summary[]
Jōsuke Udono got drunk and starts telling Akeginu how she would be perfect wife for him and that they can get married after Gennosuke Kōga and Oboro. The rest of the men in the room barely hold their hate against Kōga Manjidani's ninja. Gennosuke like the taste of the food and Oboro reveals it must be from the salt, which is brought from Akaho, but as Jōsuke comments about it, it makes the men even more angry and Gennosuke scolds him for a second time. Gennosuke and Oboro planned to performing a song and dance during their marriage and Gennosuke decides they practice it now in front of everyone. He takes out a flute and Oboro starts dancing. Later that night, Gennosuke realizes that there were some that didn't want to feat with him, including the ones they met earlier at Toki Pass. Gennosuke and Oboro agree that they need to marry soon and break the iron chains that shackle both clans.
After leaving Jōsuke to sleep and locking him in a room, Akeginu goes to Jingorō. He says that Tenzen Yakushiji is out finding and killing Shōgen Kazamachi, so they can use the opportunity and do the same here, but need to be careful that Oboro doesn't learn anything about the scroll. Akeginu agrees and wants Jōsuke for her. Meanwhile, Jōsuke wakes up and realizes he is locked in secure room, but using his rubber body, he squeezes through he window bars. He checks on Gennosuke and overhears some of his and Oboro's conversation, but glad that Gennosuke is okay.
Akeginu checks on Jōsuke, but is surprised to see he is gone. Jōsuke then captures her and asks her to be his wife for the night, but Akeginu manages to free herself. She tells Jōsuke that she will be his wife for the night if he defeats her in ninpō battle. Akeginu starts bleeding and releases her blood ninpō at Jōsuke. She creates a blood mist, limiting Jōsuke's vision. Akeginu strikes from behind and hits Jōsuke on the head with her sword, but to her surprise Jōsuke suffered no damage due to his rubber body. They proceed to battle until Oboro arrives and Jōsuke explains that he made a move on Akeginu and she got angry and its nothing serious, asking her to not tell Gennosuke.
Meanwhile, Gennosuke feels the presence of Iga ninja and explains that he want to end the war between the clans with Oboro's marriage. While returning, Oboro notices slime tracks and quickly goes to Gennosuke, but revealed that he is okay. She then calls Jingorō Amayo and as she sees him, she breaks his ninpō. Jingorō starts crawling wanting water and Oboro tells Akeginu to not help him as this is his punishment for trying to kill Gennosuke.
Jingorō reaches the nearby waterfall, but Jōsuke is there washing Akeginu's blood. He notices Jingorō and realizes he tried to kill Gennosuke. He picks him up and questions him on his actions and Jingorō reveals the Anti-War Pacts is off and the two clans are to kill each other. Jingorō then turns and attacks Jōsuke, as he starts to fall in the water, Jōsuke attempts to take a deep breath so he doesn't sink, but Jingorō uses that chance to enter his body from his mouth. Moments later, Jōsuke bounces back on the surface and Jingorō comes out of his mouth, stating that one more from Kōga is slain.
