The Souls of the Game: Voices of Black Baseball spotlights the decades-long history of Black baseball prior to the formation of the Negro Leagues, through the complexities of baseball’s re-integration, to the challenges that remain today, revealing the deep connections between baseball and Black America.

BOOK YOUR PRIVATE COLLECTIONS SHOWCASE NOW

The Private Collections Showcase is $500 and includes museum admission. For an additional $150 we will add items from your favorite team to the experience. The experience is available Monday through Saturday, at 10 a.m., 12 p.m.  and 2 p.m.  You may book online (at least 72 hours in advance) or by calling 607.547.0271 today.

The Museum is open 7 days a week, 362 days per year (363 days during the 2024 leap year), with extended hours from Memorial Day Weekend through the day before Labor Day. We are closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day.

EXHIBIT CLOSINGS

The Sacred Ground and Cracker Jack at the Ballpark exhibits are permanently closed as we begin construction of the Museum's new exhibit Yakyu | Baseball: The Transpacific Exchange of the Game, set to debut in the summer of 2025.

PLANNING FOR PARKING

Parking in Cooperstown is limited, and paid parking is in effect Memorial Day weekend through Columbus Day.

The Doubleday Field Parking Lot offers an all-day paid option for $15.

On street parking is limited to 2 hours in many locations and costs $2.50/hour in the downtown area.

Consider the Trolley Park and Ride as an alternative. Look for the “Park and Take the Trolley!” signs as you approach Cooperstown. Trolley Rates apply.

FOR THE 2024 SEASON TROLLEYS ARE IN SERVICE FROM FRIDAY, MAY 24 TO SUNDAY, SEPT. 1, FROM 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.  

TROLLEY PARKING

Enjoy a relaxing visit and catch the Village Trolley to one of the many exciting Cooperstown attractions, including the National Baseball Hall of Fame & Museum, Fenimore Farm & Country Village, Doubleday Field, Fenimore Art Museum, and downtown Cooperstown shopping. Park in one of our three free perimeter Trolley Lots and avoid driving in the congested downtown area of the Village.

  • Blue Lot: Off Route 28 just south of the Village of Cooperstown (traveling north from Oneonta, N.Y.) 
  • Red Lot: Off Route 28 North (Glen Avenue) at Maple Street (traveling south on Route 28 from Route 20) 
  • Yellow Lot: On Route 80 at upper parking lot of Fenimore Art Museum (traveling south on Route 80 from Route 20)

Accessible parking is available in the Blue Lot and the Red Lot, and Village trolleys are ADA compliant and can accommodate mechanized and standard wheelchairs. If possible, please call in advance (607.376.7322) so that the Trolley Service can plan accordingly. 

TROLLEY STOPS

The trolley will leave the Blue Lot at the south entrance to Cooperstown on the half hour and hour beginning at 8:30 a.m. The trolley will depart the Yellow Lot at approximately 22 minutes after and 8 minutes before the hour beginning at 8:52 a.m.

  • Daily Individual Pass $2.50
  • Children under 5 free.

Daily passes are available from the trolley driver, cash only.

Daily passes may also be purchased with a credit or debit card at convenient kiosks located in the trolley parking lots or in front of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. A convenience fee will be added.

PLEASE NOTE on Saturday, May 25 and Hall of Fame Weekend (July 19-22) an All-Day Pass will be available for $5 per person, payable by cash only, on the trolley. Please bring exact change.

  • Season Senior Citizen Pass $15

Season passes can be purchased by cash, check, or credit card (a convenience fee applies) at the Village Office at 22 Main Street, Cooperstown.

The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum is proud to participate in the Museums For All program. SNAP and SUN Bucks participants receive free admission (up to 4 adults). Museums for All aims to ensure that every family and child has access to a high-quality museum experience. Individuals participating in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or SUN Bucks can secure complimentary tickets by presenting an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT/SNAP) card and a valid ID at the time of their visit.

The Museum is accessible to wheelchair users and other visitors who may need to avoid stairs. An elevator is available with access to all floors.

ARE WHEELCHAIRS AVAILABLE?

Wheelchairs are available for free on a first-come, first-served basis. To borrow a wheelchair, let our Visitor Services staff know you will need one upon your arrival.

 

ARE SERVICE ANIMALS ALLOWED IN THE MUSEUM? 

Service dogs are welcome in the Museum. All service dogs must remain on a leash or harness at all times. Pets and emotional support animals are not permitted in the Museum.

 

IS HANDICAP PARKING AVAILABLE? 

There is a limited number of handicap parking spaces directly in front of the Museum. If those spaces are occupied there are specially designated spots in the Doubleday Field parking lot.

HEARING IMPAIRED

The Museum features audio components in several exhibits. Some of the exhibits have closed captioning, we are currently working to update those that do not to include this feature.  

 

VISUALLY IMPAIRED

Braille Museum Guides are available for free on a first-come, first-served basis. To borrow a Braille Museum Guide, let our Visitor Services staff know you will need one upon your arrival.

An OrCam handheld device that reads text of labels and signage aloud for those with low vision or complete vision loss is available for free on a first-come, first-served basis. To borrow the OrCam device, let our Visitor Services staff know you will need it upon your arrival.

A Clover 6 video magnifier that provides a crystal-clear image of labels and signs for those with visual impairments is available for free on a first-come, first-served basis. To borrow the Clover 6 device, let our Visitor Services staff know you will need it upon your arrival.

Large Print Museum Guides are also available for free at the ticket booths.

IS WIFI AVAILABLE ON MAIN STREET AND IN THE MUSEUM? 

Free WiFi is available on Main Street via the Cooperstown Free WiFi network.  This service is powered by NYS Empire State Development and the Village of Cooperstown. 

Free WiFi is also available inside the Museum via the BHOF Visitor network. 

CAN I TAKE PICTURES AND VIDEO IN THE MUSEUM? 

Photography and video recording is encouraged throughout the Museum. Feel free to text, post to social media or access audio, video and more information on our website during your visit. For the best service, connect to our free Wi-Fi during your visit. Tag @baseballhall on X and Instagram so we can see what you post. We may even share it.

CAN I LEAVE THE MUSEUM AND RETURN IN THE SAME DAY? 

With a hand stamp you'll receive when you enter the Museum, you can come and go as frequently as you'd like on the day of your visit.

ARE FOOD AND DRINKS ALLOWED IN THE MUSEUM? 

We do not allow food, chewing gum or drinks in the Museum. The only exception to this is water bottles that can be sealed. Drinking fountains are available on all floors.

DOES THE MUSEUM HAVE A COAT CHECK? 

We have public space available on the first floor for coat, backpack and umbrella storage. Luggage or oversized backpacks are not allowed to be stored in the coat storage area.

ARE STROLLERS, WHEELCHAIRS AND MOBILITY SCOOTERS ALLOWED IN THE MUSEUM?

Strollers, wheelchairs and mobility scooters are permitted in the Museum. Wheelchairs are available free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis. When you arrive, let our Visitor Services staff know you will need one.
