Two Watervilee School District Levy Replacement measures were on the February 14, 2012 ballot in the Waterville school district area which is in Douglas County.

Both measures were approved

The first measure sought to replace the current general school levy which is set to expire with one set at a rate of $5.47 per $1,000 of assessed property value for a period of two years in order to continue to pay for general maintenance and operational costs in the district.

The second measure sought to implement a construction levy which would be set at a rate of $1.08 per $1,000 of assessed property value for a period of three years in order to pay for construction, remodeling and modernization costs in the district.[1]

The question on the ballot:

Proposition 1: The Board of Directors of Waterville School District No. 209 adopted Resolution No. 2011/2012-004 concerning a proposition to finance District maintenance and operation expenses. This proposition would authorize the District to levy the following excess taxes, in place of an expiring levy, upon all taxable property within the District to support the District’s General Fund maintenance and operation expenses: Collection Year: 2013-2014; Approximate Levy Rate per $1000 Assessed Value: $5.47; Levy Amount: $846,740. All as specified in District Resolution No. 2011/2012-004. Should this proposition be approved?

Proposition 2: The Board of Directors of Waterville School District No. 209 adopted Resolution No. 2011/2012-005 concerning a proposition to finance capital improvements to the District’s school facilities. This proposition would authorize the District to levy the following excess taxes upon all taxable property within the District to support construction, modernization and remodeling of school facilities: Collection Year: 2013-2015; Approximate Levy Rate per $1000 Assessed Value: $1.08; Levy Amount: $166,667. All as specified in District Resolution No. 2011/2012-005. Should this proposition be approved?[3]
