W. Dennis Duggan was a judge for the Albany County Family Court in New York. He was elected to this position in 1994. He was re-elected in 2004, and his term ended on December 31, 2013. He also served as an acting justice of the Albany County Supreme Court in the 3rd Judicial District.[1][2][3]
2013 election
Duggan ran for election to the Supreme Court 3rd Judicial District. General: He was defeated by Richard J. McNally and Carol Donnelly Stevens in the general election on November 5, 2013, after receiving 5.2 percent of the vote.[4][5][6]
Education
Duggan received his B.A. degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1971 and his J.D. degree from the Albany School of Law of Union University in 1976.[1]
Career
Duggan began his career in 1973 as a law clerk for the Albany County Public Defender's Office. He then clerked for the City of Albany Corporation Counsel from 1974 to 1976 and was a confidential law clerk for an Albany County Judge from 1976 to 1978. From 1978 to 1986, he served as Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Albany. He was the Chief Labor Counsel & Negotiator. He then worked as Executive Deputy Corporation Counsel for Albany from 1986 to 1988 and as General Counsel for the Albany Department of Economic Development from 1992 to 1994. Also, from 1978 to 1994, he worked as a private practice lawyer. He was elected to the Albany County Family Court in 1994.[1][2][3]
