Thomas Sands (b. September 13, 1954) is a former Republican member of the Iowa House of Representatives, representing District 88 from 2003 to 2017. He served as Finance Chair of the Columbus Junction City Council from 1996 to 2002.

Biography

Sands' professional experience includes working as a Commercial Loan Officer and Appraiser with Columbus Junction State Bank, Life Insurance Agent with Life Investors Company, Appraiser with Vanguard Appraisals, Sales Manager of the Sajak Farm Implement Company and Owner/Operator of Grain and Livestock Farm.

On November 4, 2008, Sands was re-elected to the 87th District Seat in the Iowa House of Representatives, defeating Frank Best (D).[12] Sands raised $136,821 for his campaign, while Best raised $263,534.[13]

Sands is a Township Trustee in Concord Township, Finance Director of the Louisa County Farm Bureau, Charter Member/First Commander of the Sons of the American Legion and a member of the United Methodist Church.[14]
