Kane is a native of Colorado Springs, Colorado. He received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Colorado in 1974 and 1977, respectively.

Career

Kane worked as an associate, and later partner, of a civil litigation firm from 1977 until his judicial appointment in 1994.
