Thomas B. Poch was a senior judge for the Minnesota First Judicial District in Dakota County, Minnesota. He was appointed to the court on August 26, 1996 by Governor Arne Carlson, was elected to a full term in 1998, and was retained for another term in 2004. Poch retired on June 30, 2011 and became a senior judge the following July 8th. His current term in that position ended on June 30, 2013.[1]
Education
Poch received his B.A. degree from Macalester College in 1964 and his J.D. degree from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1967.[2]
Career
Judge Poch began his legal career in 1967 as an assistant attorney for Ramsey County. He worked in this position until becoming a judge in 1996 and served as Chief of the Criminal Division and Chief of the Crimes Against Persons Unit over this time. He has also been a U.S. Military Judge for the Navy-Marine Corps Trial Judiciary since 1992 and teaches various courses for military judgeships.[2]
2010 election
Poch was re-elected after running unopposed.[3]
