Faunce received her bachelor's degree from Western Michigan University and her J.D. from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. She was an assistant prosecutor in Macomb County for 15 years. She was the chief of both the Senior Victims Unit and Mental Health Court.

Judges of the Michigan District Courts are each elected to six-year terms. The elections for this court are nonpartisan contested elections. To serve on this court, a judge must be a qualified elector of the district, licensed to practice law in the state, under the age of 70, and have five years of experience practicing law.
