|I'm a resident of Genesee Township and a community volunteer. In 2014 was diagnosed with Stage 3 HER+2 Breast Cancer. In remission for 7 years. I began my political career in 2016 by being elected as a Republican Precinct Delegate. I had two back surgeries in 2017 and 2018 that left me unable to walk, but I get around with a power chair and the assistance of a service dog. I am a fighter and I don’t know how to give up. That's how dedicated I will be to my voters.
- I have common sense ideas to help solve problems plaguing Lansing
- I will not vote to increase taxes any higher.
- I want the voters to be more involved when it comes to writing more new laws.
I'm very concerned with veteran issues, and I believe they are not getting proper medical care, and it’s unthinkable that our vets are homeless and being ignored! Sherri will pursue changes in the Veterans Ombudsman’s Department (MVFO) to ensure veterans are getting the support they deserve.

|I became a Sumter County Deputy Sheriff in 1984. I have extensive volunteer experience with community groups (blood drives, animal rehab, etc..) for several years. I moved back to Michigan in 1993 and started a bird breeding business. I was a Certified Avian Specialist, and worked with several local veterinarians on bird behavior. I also did bird rescue and rehab. I am a cancer survivor, and never ran from that fight. Currently I work with local animal rescue groups. I am a huge supporter of our first responders, veterans, and their families. For the past 23 years I have produced a Hispanic community radio show on WWCK-105.5. My on-air name is Sapphyre. I speak fluent Spanish. In 2015 I helped with water distribution to local Latino communities, explaining the problem with the water. I discovered a family that was severely sick from the Flint water and arranged for help for them. Our community is still suffering from bad water, PFAS contamination, and other issues that effect my district.
- Recovering from the Covid-19 shut-down that has devisated our economy.
- Estiblish a statewide ombudsman's office for our veterans.
- Establish grants for animal rescue groups. Our local animal control office is failing to do it's job.
Civil rights for our LGBTQ community because they want to amend the Elliot-Larson civil rights act of 1972.
Establish a statewide ombudsman office to support our veterans. There is no excuse to have homeless veterans in our community.
Supporting our local law enforcement and first responders, who have to struggle to get assistance buying basic equipment and vehicles. Some of our agencies are forced to borrow from other departments.
Cleaning up two areas in my district that is contaminated with PFAS and getting into water supplies.
Recovering from the Cobid-19 shutdown that has destroyed our economy.
I look to God for guidance. I was inspired by President Trump to run for office. He ran against all odds, with no many people against him. In the end his policies brought us out of the recession and created millions of jobs and security. In our current economic crisis I hope to follow that lead!
Moral standards and ethics are important. They need to be able to listen to both sides and not put their own agenda up front. They need a little bit of common sense.
I do not make promises I don't intend to keep. I have lots of life experience I can being to the table. What is missing most in Lansing is basic common sense.
To represent the residents in their district. To make sure their voices are heard and their needs are addressed. They need to make sure they are available to listen to their concerns and not be ignored.
I want to bring Michigan out of our recession. I want our veterans to know they have somewhere to go and people to call for help. I want our police and first responders to have the equipment they need to do their job safely.
When I was nine years old I remember sitting in front of my tv watching the moon landing. My parents had taken me to the Space Center in Huntsville the year before, and I was going to be an astronaut.
But the event that had the most impact on me was on 9/11. I remember watching the television the whole day with my husband. The impact on our nation was devastating. My kids were on lock down in their school and I had no way of contacting them.
My very first job was working for a mentally challenged institution, working with children as a caregiver. I did this for one year, but left to attend college.
My first real career job was a deputy sheriff in Sumter County, Florida. I did everything from road patrol, dispatching, bailiff,, and corrections officer. I was constantly called upon by other agencies to do Spanish interpreting. I left because I needed to take care of my father, who had been diagnosed with cancer.
Understanding Trump by Newt Gingrich. Because it breaks down why Trump does what he does.
We are the champions by Queen. I love the drum intro.
For many years I have struggled with with Opiate addiction from back injuries. My doctors kept passing it out like candy, but I managed to kick the addiction with the help of a wise doctor and medical cannibals. I later battled with breast cancer (which I was declared in remission and cancer free). I am a fighter.
Right now, both chambers are controlled by the Republican party. They have been working together to bring our state out of a deep recession. We need to continue this.
While it may be helpful to have some experience in government, it's more important to bring diversity, life experience and other talents to Lansing. For example, if you want to pass laws regulating how doctors work, you need someone with medical experience to guide them. Having people with professional experience is critical to passing effective laws. The process of writing these laws is supported by having experienced staff members to assist you.
Recovering from the Covid-19 shutdown is our greatest challenge. Our economy has been destroyed, our budget is currently $4 Billion in the hole, and our Governor has no plan to recover. It will take a mixture of major cuts on non-essential services, and tax increases to get through this. We need to get our economy running again, and that means lifting restrictions on businesses. For example, the orders demanding restaurants open but keep a 6 foot distance forces these businesses to work at half capacity. That limits their profits which in turn hurts state revenues and keeps unemployment at high levels. We can open our economy up and still protect our elderly and people with health risks if we just use some common sense.
We need these two groups to work together and stop putting their personal agendas up front. This is very difficult with the current political discord we have across the country.
Yes, it is very important for legislators of both parties to work together. I have an open mind and will work with both parties to solve the many issues we are facing.
Appropriations, Local Government and Municipal Finance, Military veterans and Homeland Security,
I would like to eventually run for U.S Congress.
In 2015 I joined a group of Spanish speaking volunteers to deliver water to residents in a Hispanic community on Flint's east side. On one of my visits I came across a family with a very sick 4 month old girl. She did not act normal, and laid with her fist clenched like a newborn. She did not respond to anything. Her grandfather said he was ill. He had ulcers, hair loss, and rashes. He showed me a glass of water from his faucet and it was yellowish and smelled terrible. Because he did not have a TV or radio in his home he was unaware of the water crisis. I immediately put him in contact with assistance groups who helped with medicare care and financial assistance. Today the child is adorable and healthy. The grandfather is recovered and currently runs a 501c3 group helping immigrants in the community. He is also going to school learning to be a deacon for his church. I am proud that I helped him and others get through this crisis.
