Hamilton County, Ohio, held general elections for prosecuting attorney, clerk of courts, sheriff, recorder, treasurer, engineer, coroner, two county commissioner seats, and 12 Court of Common Pleas judges on November 3, 2020. A primary was scheduled for April 28, 2020. The filing deadline for partisan candidates in this election was December 18, 2019, and the filing deadline for independent candidates was March 16, 2020.
Election procedure changes in 2020

In the 2016 presidential election, Donald Trump (R) won Ohio with 51.7 percent of the vote. Hillary Clinton (D) received 43.6 percent. In presidential elections between 1900 and 2016, Ohio cast votes for the winning presidential candidate 93.3 percent of the time (28 out of 30 elections), more than any other state in the country. In that same time frame, Ohio supported Republican candidates for president more often than Democratic candidates, 60 to 40 percent. Between 2000 and 2016, Ohio voted for the winning presidential candidate in every election.

In 2016, Hillary Clinton (D) won 33 out of 99 state House districts in Ohio with an average margin of victory of 34 points.
