A Merritt Township Road Levy Increase proposal was on the November 6, 2012 election ballot in Bay County, which is in Michigan.
This proposal authorized the Township of Merritt to impose a property tax of 1.5 mills ($1.50 per $1,000 of assessed valuation) for 5 years in order to fund public roads. The estimated first year revenue from this tax is $78,700.[1]

Language on the ballot:
| “ | Shall Merritt Township levy up to 1.5 mills ($1.50 per $1,000.00 of taxable value) above the tax limitation imposed under Article IX, Section 6, of the Michigan Constitution, and levy it for five (5) years, December 1, 2013 through December 1, 2017 inclusive, for the purpose of raising revenues for the maintenance and improvements of public roads in Merritt Township, raising an estimated $78,700.00 in the first year the millage is levied? If approved, this proposal constitutes a renewal of the previously voted millage within Merritt Township which will otherwise expire on December 1, 2012.
