Lisa Margaret Smith was a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. She was first appointed to this position on March 20, 1995. She served as chief magistrate judge from 2006 to 2008.[1][2] Smith retired from the court in 2020.[3]
Education
Smith received her B.A. degree in political science from Earlham College in 1977 and her J.D. degree from Duke University School of Law in 1980.[1]

Judicial career
Southern District of New York, magistrate
Smith was appointed to the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York as a federal magistrate judge on March 20, 1995. She was re-appointed in 2003 and 2011. Her current term expired on March 19, 2019. She retired in September 2020.[3] Smith served as the chief magistrate judge from 2006 to 2008.[1][2]
