Political career
Secretary of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (2019-2021)
Boockvar was named secretary of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania on January 5, 2019. The Pennsylvania State Senate confirmed her appointment on November 19 of that year.[1] On February 1, 2021, Gov. Tom Wolf announced that Boockvar would be stepping down effective February 5.[3] Boockvar's office failed to advertise a constitutional amendment as the state constitution requires. The amendment would have created a two-year period in which persons can file civil suits arising from childhood sexual abuse that would otherwise be considered outside the statute of limitations.
