Editor's note: In some states, write-in candidates who appear on official general election ballots do not receive individual vote totals if the number of votes they receive does not change the outcome of the election. In these instances, the total votes for all write-in candidates in the election are reported as a single sum, and the total votes for official write-in candidates who appeared on the ballot are reported as zero.

|Joshua is the only candidate in this field who is a job creator and who has overseen a multi-million dollar annual budget. Joshua's experience as a leader in small business AND local government makes him uniquely qualified to tackle the biggest challenges facing our state. Joshua can walk and chew gum at the same time. Joshua's vision is to allow families and small business the freedoms necessary to thirive - not jsut survive. Joshua backs up his commitment with a pledge: he will not take a paycheck as governor. Special interests will NOT buy this race or the influence to take what's ours.
The first job of government is to keep you and your family safe. Under this governor, mobs have taken over city blocks and even a police station. An officer's been murdered. Our state is becoming a national embarrassment. As Governor, I'll take back our streets. If a Mayor won't defend you or your family, I will. I'm Joshua Freed. I'm running for Governor to protect public safety- without it nothing else matters.
Olympia has plenty of money, but the wrong priorities. I promise a transparent budget and NO State Income Tax.
- We see evidence of Olympia's failure all around us with people living under tarps, begging next to freeways, and passed out in parks surrounded by garbage and needles. This is not wise, it's not safe, and worst of all, it's not compassionate. We need a Governor with the courage to tell the truth and is committed to changing what isn't working
Joshua doesn't just talk - he backs his words up with actions. He and his family have helped start health centers overseas, drilled wells to serve over 2,000 tribal members in Kenya and built over 150 homes for the poverty-stricken in the Philippines following a devastating earthquake. Joshua and his wife Lindie, along with their five children, recognize the rich blessings of living in this great state and, through their service, they have developed a passion dedicated to helping those who need it most. Joshua's humble heart has led him to pursue a life of service to others. And he has a long record - whether leading relief trips overseas, serving the homeless and drug addicted in our cities, leading his community on city council or being the sole voice who stood up and stopped government-run heroin injection sites, Joshua has improved, defended and saved lives. Joshua co-sponsored Referendum 90 to repeal the extreme, new K-12 sex ed curriculum- he even wrote the check that paid for the petitions to be printed. Jay Inslee backed down only when Joshua challenged his unconstitutional executive order that allowed marijuana stores to be open but prohibited religious gatherings. Please join us in voting for Joshua Freed for Governor- our state deserves a leader who will make a difference. It deserves a leader with a servant's heart. And we deserve a candidate of his quality who has what it takes to win and lead us into the future.
Joshua's experience as a leader in small business, local government, and helping those in need make him uniquely qualified to tackle the biggest challenges facing our state. He founded his real estate company with the vision of developing strong communities for families. He launched his company at the beginning of the worst economic downturn our country had seen since the Depression, building five homes per year. He grew the business during the Great Recession into one of the premier locally owned homebuilders in the Puget Sound region.
Joshua is a proud, lifelong Washingtonian. He was born at Evergreen Hospital in Kirkland, graduated from Inglemoor High School in Kenmore, and married his college sweetheart, Lindie, a year after they graduated from Seattle Pacific University. As the son of a nurse and a federal service diplomat, he has a lifelong passion to serve his local and global communities.
Joshua was elected to the Bothell City Council in 2005 and, later, was chosen by his colleagues to lead the city as mayor where he oversaw the greatest revitalization of a downtown in Washington history with a remarkable $450 million in private investment. During his time as mayor, Joshua worked with his fellow councilmembers to make large investments that protected open space and cleaned up long-ignored environmental issues-while giving tax relief to those who needed it.
He also served on the King County Mental Health Advisory Board to ensure county government gave our neighbors, who are struggling, the critical resources that they need.
When King County announced plans to further imperil those with drug addiction by building heroin injection sites, Joshua stood up for our most vulnerable and persuaded local officials in nearly 20 cities and counties to ban these dangerous sites in their communities and, instead, focus precious public resources on helping people break the cycle of addiction.
We see evidence of Olympia's failure all around us with people living under tarps, begging next to freeways, and passed out in parks surrounded by garbage and needles. This is not wise, it's not safe, and worst of all, it's not compassionate.
We need a Governor with the courage to tell the truth and is committed to changing what isn't working.
I know that we can bring addicts to recovery and improve the condition for the mentally ill and homeless. I will lead the effort to reduce homelessness and drug abuse by re-purposing under-utilized state facilities and converting them to homeless housing and recovery centers for the drug addicted and mentally ill while providing job training to help the most vulnerable become self sufficient and contributing members of society.
Western State has been decertified by the federal government and is a national disgrace because Olympia has become numb to the condition of the mentally ill.
As Governor, I will be committed to a complete overhaul of our mental health system.
We need to support our police and first responders by enforcing our current laws and equipping them with the tools they need to keep our community, and themselves, safe.
I commit to helping others and lifting up those in need. I will back up my commitment by not taking a paycheck as Governor. Instead, I will donate my salary every month to a non-profit homeless shelter or drug rehabilitation facility.
his year, Olympia passed a 17% spending increase and billions of dollars in new taxes in the dead of night after a deal was cut behind closed doors with no public input.
And this wasn't the first time.
This needs to change.
Our state government has been focused on making life even more comfortable for those who are already doing fine for too long.
Schools in wealthy neighborhoods are overflowing with money while we deny educational choices for low-income communities.
We force the poor to pay more than their fair share for our roads, and then leave them in gridlock while those who can afford a $10 toll breeze home.
And as our historic state revenues continue to climb, we leave our neighbors afflicted with mental health issues behind to suffer.
Our current leadership's priorities are not only wrong; they're unconscionable.
I'm running to be the Governor that will put Olympia back to work for those who truly need and deserve our help.
I promise a transparent budget and NO State Income Tax.
As I've travelled to all 39 counties, the message is consistently clear: we need a Governor to bring Washington together, not divide us into camps of "essential" versus "non-essential". I will lead Washington's economic recovery. I have a lifelong record of community service here and around the world. I will not take a salary as Governor and will instead donate it to local nonprofits helping the mentally ill and homeless. I have a track record of bringing people together as a successful businessman and bipartisan leader who has cut taxes while protecting the most vulnerable. I will veto any attempt at a state income tax. I will never use my office to take away liberties our founders fought and died for and will uphold our U.S. and State Constitutions.
My wife Lindie and I are both the product of Washington public schools and believe in supporting education. Our five kids have joined us in serving the disadvantaged around the world.
