Joseph Raich was a 2017 Democratic candidate for District 26 of the New Jersey General Assembly.

Raich was a 2013 Democratic candidate for District 26 of the New Jersey General Assembly.[1] He previously ran for the office in 2012 and 2011.

Biography

Raich earned his B.A. from Jersey City State College in 1968. His professional experience includes working as a driver at Travel Limousine and zone sales supervisor at The Star Ledger Newspaper Circulation.

General election

Elections for the New Jersey General Assembly took place in 2017. All 80 seats were up for election. State assembly members are elected to two-year terms. The general election took place on November 7, 2017. A primary election took place on June 6, 2017. The filing deadline for the primary election was April 3, 2017.[4] Legislative districts in the New Jersey General Assembly are multi-member districts, with two representatives in each district. In Democratic and Republican primary elections, the top two candidates move forward to the general election, and the top two candidates in the general election are declared the winners.[5] Incumbent Jay Webber (R) and incumbent BettyLou DeCroce (R) defeated Joseph Raich (D) and William Edge (D) in the New Jersey General Assembly District 26 general election.[6][7]

William Edge and Joseph Raich defeated Laura Fortgang in the New Jersey General Assembly District 26 Democratic primary election.[8][9]

Incumbent Jay Webber and incumbent BettyLou DeCroce defeated William Lyon and John Cesaro in the New Jersey General Assembly District 26 Republican primary election.[10][9]

Raich ran in the 2013 election for New Jersey General Assembly District 26. Raich was bracketed with Elliot Isibor. He was unopposed in the June 4 Democratic primary. He was defeated by incumbent Jay Webber (R) and incumbent BettyLou DeCroce (R) in the general election, which took place on November 5, 2013.[11][12][13][14]

Raich was a candidate for District 26 of the New Jersey General Assembly. He was defeated in the November 8 general election. Raich and Elliot Isibor ran unopposed in the June 7 Democratic primary. Alex DeCroce and Jay Webber ran unopposed in the Republican primary. Michael Spector was also running as an Independent in the November 8 general election.[18]
