As a lifelong 63-year resident of Columbus with 33 years of city-wide community involvement, my understanding of our city's neighborhoods and how city government operates is unmatched. Coming from a middle-class family of 11 children, working 25 years as a blue-collar union construction laborer and 14 years as a white-collar safety professional, athlete and musician has helped provide me with much understanding of those from different social, economic and cultural backgrounds. Over the past 3 decades I have publicly fought for fairness and displayed the political courage and independence that is sorely needed on City Council. I have demonstrated to Columbus citizens for decades that my priority is to give opportunity to the underserved, those without a voice and bring democracy back to Columbus by allowing citizens to truly participate in policy decisions that impact development, education, police accountability, true affordable housing, wages and health.
I delivered the early morning Citizen Journal newspaper at age 12.
