John S. McLellan, III is a circuit court judge for the Second Circuit Court in Tennessee. He was appointed to the court by former Governor Ned McWherter in 1994. He was retained by voters in 1996, 1998, and 2006.[1][2][3] McLellan was re-elected to the Second Circuit Court on August 7, 2014. His current term expires in 2022.[4][5]

Education
McLellan received his undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 1968 and his J.D. degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 1970.[1]
Career
McLellan began his career in 1971 as an attorney in private practice. He continued to work in that capacity until his judicial appointment in 1994. He has also served as a part-time city attorney for the Town of Mount Carmel, as a part-time attorney for Sullivan County from 1978 to 1994, and as a judge for the Kingsport City Juvenile Court in Sullivan County.[1]
