Campaign themes

2012

Casey's website highlighted the following campaign themes:

Creating New Jobs & Opportunities

  • Excerpt: "Helping small businesses create and retain jobs will be John C. Casey's top priority. He will actively support tax credits for small businesses that create new jobs and he will work with local development authorities in Mason and Putnam Counties to attract new business."

Stop Wasteful Spending

  • Excerpt: "I promise that I will not vote for any fiscally irresponsible budget. In addition, I will not vote for any irresponsible spending programs that bloat the budget."

Taxes

  • Excerpt: "When it comes to West Virginia business, West Virginia is one of the highest taxed states in the nation. It has been proven time and time again that higher taxes stifle economic growth and place an undue burden on businesses and working families. I will fight to lower the business and personal income taxes to reasonable levels that encourage businesses to move back to West Virginia and thrive."

Education

  • Excerpt: "We must continue to think outside the box when it comes to educating our children. We need to put our education system back in the hands of the teachers. Only the teachers understand the needs and obstacles of the students in their area."
