Jo Ann Ferdinand was an acting justice of the Kings County Supreme Court, Criminal Term in the 2nd Judicial District of New York. She was appointed to this position in 1994. She has also served on the New York City Criminal Court since 1986.

Education

Ferdinand received her B.S. from Cornell University's School of Industrial & Labor Relations in 1970. She then received her J.D. from the New York University School of Law in 1973.

Career

Ferdinand began her career in 1973 as a staff attorney for the Criminal Defense Division of the Legal Aid Society. In 1978, she joined the N.Y.C. Dept. of Sanitation, where she worked as an assistant commissioner of trials until 1980 and then as a deputy commissioner of trials until her judicial appointment in 1986. That year, she was appointed judge of the New York City Criminal Courts. She was reappointed to this position in 2001 and was appointed an acting supreme court justice in 1994.
