James Foster was a 2016 Libertarian candidate for governor of Oregon.[1] He was defeated in the general election.
He was previously a 2014 Libertarian candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 1st Congressional District of Oregon; He was defeated by incumbent Suzanne Bonamici (D) in the general election on November 4, 2014.[2] He also unsuccessfully ran in 2012 as Libertarian candidate for the U.S. House to represent the 1st Congressional District of Oregon; he ran in the special election on January 31, 2012. He also unsuccessfully ran for District 34 of the Oregon House of Representatives on November 2, 2010.[3]
Biography
Foster is the director of operations at a software company in Beaverton, Oregon. He also previously worked as a staff attorney at the Federal Trade Commission.

Foster filed to run as a Libertarian candidate for governor of Oregon in the 2016 special election. He competed with Democratic Governor Kate Brown, Bud Pierce (R), Independent Party of Oregon candidate Cliff Thomason, and Constitution Party candidate Aaron Auer in the November general election.[1]
