Hugh B. Scott was a recalled federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the Western District of New York. He served on the court from his appointment in 1995 until his death on February 19, 2021.[1]
Education
Judge Scott received his B.A. degree from Niagara University in 1971 and his J.D. degree from The University of Buffalo Law School in 1974.[1]
Career
Judge Scott began his career in 1974 as an assistant county attorney with the Erie County Law Department. He then worked as assistant corporation counsel for the Buffalo Law Department, an assistant U.S. attorney for the Western District of New York, and then a U.S. attorney for the same district. In 1979, he joined the New York Attorney General's Buffalo Office as the deputy assistant attorney general-in-charge of claims and litigation. He then became the assistant attorney general-in-charge of the Buffalo Regional Office of the New York State Department of Law in 1981. In 1984, he became a judge on the Buffalo City Court. He held this position until his 1995 federal judicial appointment. Scott died on February 19, 2021.
Judge Scott also taught at the University of Buffalo Law School.[1]

Scott served on the United States District Court for the Western District of New York as a federal magistrate judge from 1995 until his death in 2021.[1]
