Henry Ross is a former 2015 Republican candidate seeking election to the U.S. House to represent the 1st Congressional District of Mississippi.
Ross previously sought election to the seat in 2012. He was defeated by incumbent Alan Nunnelee in the Republican primary on March 13, 2012.
Biography
Ross was born in Eupora, Mississippi, and obtained his business and law degrees at the University of Mississippi. After passing the bar exam in 1981, he clerked for Judge J. P. Coleman in the United States Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit. He then entered the U.S. Navy as a JAG Corps Officer, where he served for three and a half years. Ross became the mayor of Eupora in 1997. In 2008, Ross received an appointment from then-President George W. Bush to serve as Senior Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General in the Environment and Natural Resource Division of the Justice Department.[1]
Elections
2015
Ross ran in the 2015 special election to fill Mississippi's 1st District seat left open following the death of Alan Nunnelee.[2] [3] Ross was defeated in the general election on May 12, 2015. Trent Kelly (R) won the election, defeating Walter Zinn (D) in the runoff election on June 2, 2015.[4]

Ross ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House to represent Mississippi's 1st District. He sought the nomination on the Republican ticket. He was defeated by incumbent Alan Nunnelee (Republican) in the primary.[5][6]

Ross has been married to his wife, Anne (nee Booth) for twenty nine years. They have three children and live in Eupora, Mississippi.[7]
