Gary Kimes was a judge of District 5B of Iowa. He was appointed to the bench in 1996 and retired on April 1, 2016.[1][2]

Kimes earned an undergraduate degree from Iowa State University and a J.D. from Drake University Law School. His experience includes service in the U.S. armed forces and work as the Clarke County attorney and an attorney in private practice. Kimes has also served as the president of the Iowa County Attorneys Association, a director for Southwestern Community College, and a member of the Iowa State Bar Association Board of Governors, the 5B Bar Association, the Iowa Judges Association, and the Iowa State Bar Association.[2]
