The Florida Secretary of the Department of Economic Opportunity is a state executive position in the Florida state government. Created in 2011, the goal of the office is to assist the governor in developing and promoting economic opportunities for the state.[1]


Officially established on October 1, 2011, the Department combined the Agency for Workforce Innovation, the Department of Community Affairs and the Governor’s Office of Tourism, Trade and Economic Development.[2]

In 2021, the officeholder title for the department was changed from "Executive Director" to "Secretary."[3]
