Evelyn Sanguinetti (Republican Party) was the Lieutenant Governor of Illinois. She assumed office on January 12, 2015. She left office in 2019.
Sanguinetti (Republican Party) ran for election to the U.S. House to represent Illinois' 6th Congressional District. She did not appear on the ballot for the Republican primary on March 17, 2020.
Sanguinetti is a former Republican Lieutenant Governor of Illinois. Sanguinetti was defeated in the general election on November 6, 2018. Before becoming lieutenant governor, Sanguinetti served as a member of the Wheaton City Council.
Biography
Sanguinetti was born and raised in Miami, Fla. The daughter of an Ecuadorian father and Cuban mother, Sanguinetti's first language was Spanish. English was her second language. She earned her B.A. in piano performance from Florida International University and her J.D. from John Marshall Law School.[1]
Sanguinetti was an assistant attorney general under former Republican Illinois Attorney General James E. Ryan, and went on to practice at a private law firm in Chicago.[2] She also worked as an adjunct professor at John Marshall Law School.[1]

Political career
Illinois Lieutenant Governor (2015-2019)
Sanguinetti was the 47th lieutenant governor of Illinois. She was elected on November 4, 2014, and sworn into office on January 12, 2015.[3]
Sanguinetti was the first Hispanic and first Latina lieutenant governor in Illinois history.[2]

2014
Sanguinetti ran successfully for election to the office of Illinois Lieutenant Governor in 2014. She and gubernatorial running mate Bruce Rauner won the Republican nomination in the March 18 primary. She and Rauner took on the Democratic ticket of incumbent Gov. Pat Quinn and Paul Vallas in the general election. The Libertarian ticket of Chad Grimm and Alex Cummings was also on the November ballot. The general election took place on November 4, 2014.
