Elwood Hamilton (1883-1945) was a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit and the United States District Court for the Western District of Kentucky. Hamilton died on September 19, 1945.

Judicial nominations and appointments

Sixth Circuit

Hamilton was nominated by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt on February 25, 1938 to replace Charles Harwood Moorman. He was confirmed by the Senate on March 1st, and received commission on March 4th. He served on this court until his death on September 19, 1945.[1]

Western District of Kentucky

Hamilton was nominated by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt on June 14, 1935 to replace Charles Dawson. He was confirmed by the Senate on June 18th, and received commission on June 20th. He served on this court until April 1, 1938, when he was appointed to the Sixth Circuit.[1] Hamilton was succeeded in this position by Shackelford Miller.
