93% of Florida lawyers polled by the state Bar were in favor of Casanueva's retention.[4]
Education
Casanueva earned a B.A. in political science from the University of South Florida and received his J.D. from the Loyola University School of Law in 1976. He received his LL.M. in judicial process in 2001 from the University of Virginia.[5]
Career
Casanueva began his legal career in 1976 as an assistant state attorney for the 20th Judicial Circuit of Florida. In 1978, he entered private practice as an attorney and then as a partner in the law firm Olmsted, Schwarz, Kahle & Casanueva. In 1990, he was elected a judge of the Circuit Court. He served on the court until his appointment to the Court of Appeal in 1998.[5]
