Dan Lamont is a former acting justice of the Albany County Supreme Court in the 3rd Judicial District of New York and a former judge of the Court of Claims. He was appointed to both positions in 1996 and was reappointed in 2004. He retired from the bench on December 31, 2012.[1][2]
Education
Lamont received his A.B. from Hamilton College in 1964 and his J.D. from the Albany Law School in 1967.[1]
Career
Lamont began his career in 1967 as an New York Assistant Attorney General. He worked in that position until 1968. From 1971 to 1978, he was a partner of the law firm of Bellcourt & Lamont. He also served as an Assistant Schoharie County Attorney from 1972 to 1975 and a Cobleskill Town Attorney from 1975 to 1978. He served as a judge of the County, Family and Surrogate's courts of Schoharie County from 1979 to 1995. He then took office as a judge of the Court of Claims and an Acting Supreme Court Justice of Albany County in 1996.[1]
