An effort to recall Bobby Washington from his position as mayor of Cullen, Louisiana, was launched in April 2011.[1] The recall effort was abandoned.
Reasons for recall
Floydean White, a current Alderman for the Town of Cullen, said residents were concerned with the mayor's residency. While he claimed legal residency in Cullen, Washington actually lived in Shreveport. "I could not expect a person living in the middle of Shreveport to be as concerned or committed to what goes on in Cullen and how he can improve the living here and make things better for the citizens, so I really think it plays a vital part to be living in the community that you're serving in," said White.[1]
Path to the ballot
Recall supporters would have needed to collect the signatures of 227 registered voters in 90 days from the time they submitted their recall registration paperwork in order to force a recall election.[1]
